General

Who should sign up for our UK camp?
We are proud to welcome young Jewish people aged 10-16 years from all around the world. If you want to get involved in a wide range of high adrenalin activities, exciting excursions, improve your English and most importantly make friends with other young Jewish people from around the world, JCamps is certainly for you.

What is the language spoken at camp?
The main language at camp is English. We also celebrate the multi-lingual nature of our camp and have a diverse team of monitors from around the world, so our campers always have someone to translate for them if necessary.

Where is the camp located?
JCamps London is located at Grosvenor Hall in Ashford, Kent. We are just 45 minutes from central London by train and close to London's three main airports

How long have you been running JCamps London
With 25 years experience organising Jewish summer camps, our Camp Directors, Brian and Patricia Geminder established JCamps London in 2010

How about security?
We take security very seriously. The entire campus is surrounded by hire wire fencing with CCTV cameras and dense tree foliage. There is only one gated entrance to the campus which is electronically controlled by a central hub with TV monitor. All our staff have walkie talkies so that they are in constant communication. We also have 24 hour reception so we can monitor all in and out movement. Night security patrols are also on duty throughout the night. All excursions are accompanied by our monitors and only privately hired transport is used. On excursions all the campers are provided with our distinctive green tee shirts for easy recognition.

Do you get to see the local area?
Of course! We run excursions to central London in order to see the sights: Big Ben, the London eye, Buckingham Palace and many more. We also go to medieval Canterbury, the seaside town of Brighton as well as the Bluewater Shopping Mall.

How do I sign up?
Just fill in our booking form and we will then confirm your reservation provided space is still available

Camp

Is the camp divided by age?
Yes, although we look to integrate our campers with one another as much as possible.

What does a typical camp day look like?

Who are the monitors?
Every year we bring together a team of highly experienced and diverse monitors from around the world. To ensure that our high standards are always maintained, we provide training for all our staff to ensure the best pastoral care of our campers whilst they are enjoying their time with us.

What if our child is missing home?
Our staff are trained to deal with any concerns that a camper may have. Our Camp Director and staff, are always available to ensure that all of our campers enjoy their summer with us.

General Accommodation

How many campers share a room?
Campers share rooms with up to 7 other campers. Each room has its own toilet and 2 showers

May I ask to be with my friend in the same room?
Of course. Our Booking Form has a box in which the name of a friend or friends can be stated.

Coming on your own?
No problem! For those who do not know anyone else before camp we take a lot of care arranging the rooms so that campers of a similar age and common language share together.

Food and Drink

Is the food at camp Kosher?
Yes it is and the products provided are sanctioned by the London Beth Din.

What meals are supplied?
Our healthy cuisine consist of a varied and nutritious menu of meat, fish, vegetable, salads and fruit with plenty of choice for vegetarians.

Food allergies?
If your child has a food allergy this should be specified when completing our Booking Form and our Chef will provided the necessary diet

Security, Health and Safety

What security does the camp have in place?
The safety of our campers is our #1 priority. The campus is enclosed within a high wire secure gate. CCTV cameras are in operation throughout the campus. Night security guards patrol the campus and all our monitors are supplied with walkie talkies for constant communication. We also have 24 hour front desk TV monitoring

Life guards
All activities organised in or around the swimming pool are overseen by qualified life-guards.

What are the medical arrangements?
We have First Aid monitors and access to a local doctor surgery 5 minutes from the campus. There is also a first class hospital near by in case of emergencies. A campers' medical condition should be highlighted on our Booking Form and adequate amounts of medication brought to camp.

What are the communication arrangements at camp?
Campers are allowed to bring cell phones and tablets although for the initial 2 days use of these will be restricted. Additionally JCamps will not be responsible for their loss or damage. WiFi in our computer rooms is available each evening for our campers. Overseas students should ensure their phones are "unlocked" so that they can purchase a local sim card. Our 24 hour receptionists are always able to take phone calls

How can we contact our child in an emergency?
A phone number will be provided to the families of all participants at camp so that our Camp Director can be contacted in the case of an emergency!

Shabbat
On Friday night we have a simple Kabbalah Shabbat service and on Shabbat morning for those who wish we have a optional service. Other campers will participate in discussion groups. Following Kiddush and lunch we have a full programme of Shabbat friendly activities

Travel to our campus
By Eurostar train to Ashford International Station or by air to London's Heathrow or Gatwick airports. The cost of a camper's travel is not included in our price.

Unaccompanied Minor
The major airlines offer this service. Airline staff will take care of your child from departure airport until the child is handed over to our monitor in Alicante.

We offer an escorted services from Gare du Nord to Ashford.
and Tel Aviv to London

Transfer to the Campus
All students can be collected from London's airports or from Ashford International Station and brought to our campus. This is an optional service and the price can be provided upon request.
